I write this post to say one simple thing: it is never acceptable to chew gum in the workplace. If you are chewing gum and snapping it in your mouth and popping bubbles, and you are at work, someone is hearing you do it, most likely more than one person, and those people are most likely irritated that you are you doing it. I am not sure why people who chew gum don't realize doing it at work isn't okay, unless you're doing it with your mouth closed and not making any noise, but it's not okay. It's annoying.
And on that note, so is eating any food and chewing it with your mouth open. People can hear you. It is annoying. Take a bite and do what I was told to do when I was four years old: Chew with your mouth closed.
This noise violation/annoyance also goes with listening to music on a headset/earphones and blaring it so loudly that everyone around can hear the music. No one wants to hear your music but you. And you're ruining your ears in the process. Turn the music down. Save your hearing and you'll also stop annoying people around you.
There. I've said my piece.
Apparently I'm in Zone A of Hurrican Evacuation for when Hurricane Irene touches down early Sunday morning. I am going to have to find out if I need to tape my windows up so if they crack, they don't shatter into my apartment. I am also going to have to load up on supplies, like water and some food that I don't need to keep refrigerated and that doesn't need to be heated up to eat in the event power goes out. I probably don't have too much to worry about, but everyone is starting to make a big stink about it so I'm beginning to pay attention. We shall see...
