13 Things To Do While You Wait For Madonna’s New Album

13 Things To Do While You Wait For Madonna’s New Album

Madonna’s eagerly anticipated 13th studio album is apparently far from being finished - people from Madonna’s camp claim that the Queen of Pop won’t be releasing her new record until 2015. So what to do for next few months while we anxiously await new tunes from her Madgesty? Here are 13 ways you can busy yourself until Madonna releases new music:

1)       Listen to Madonna’s Back Catalog. The Queen of Pop didn’t get that title for just any reason. Madonna has been releasing music since 1982. After 30+ years in the music industry, she’s got plenty of albums to occupy your time. Get a great pair of headphones, hunker down and spend some time re-familiarizing yourself with some classic Madonna. Start chronologically with her first album, the self-titled “Madonna” and work your way up to her most recent, and unfairly criticized album, “MDNA.” You’ll not only hear Madonna’s sound change from album to album, but you’ll also hear a young girl who wanted to be famous evolve into an icon.

2)       Music Video collection. Once you've finished listening to Madonna's music, it's time to see the visual representation of it. After all, Madonna was releasing the most epic, memorable and iconic music videos long before the current crop of music divas were out of diapers. Whether it be a music video from the 80s, 90s, early 2000s or this past decade, Madonna has something to delight, inspire and prove that she's the Queen of Music Video. Check them all out on her YouTube channel.

3)       Movie Marathon. Say what you will about Madonna’s acting abilities, but she’s been in some really great movies. Now’s the time to either introduce yourself to these films for the first time, or re-watch for the 100th time. Must-Sees:
-Desperately Seeking Susan: quintessential Madonna and old-school NYC!
-Who’s That Girl:a silly slapstick comedy that couldn’t get more 80’s if it tried and a killer soundtrack to boot
-Dick Tracy: Madonna as Breathless Mahoney – she has all the good lines and some of the best hair, makeup and wardrobe in a movie. Ever.
-Truth or Dare – the ultimate concert documentary and Madonna at the height of her stardom
-A League of Their Own: if you don’t love this Penny Marshall directed movie for Madonna’s sparkly performance and the terrific ensemble cast you’ll surely love it for Madonna’s great theme song “This Used To Be My Playground”
-and finally, Evita: Madonna in the role she was born to play.

4)       Learn choreography. “And you can dance, for inspiration” says Madonna in her classic dancefloor anthem, ‘Into the Groove,’ and dance you should! There are a myriad of Madonna performances just aching to be learned! From Dress You Up to Vogue, from Music (those deep knee bends!) to Nobody Knows Me, from Hung Up to Girl Gone Wild, every tour Madonna has done provides multitudes of dance routines. Start practicing now…

5)       Workout. If dancing isn’t your thing, hit the gym! We all know Madonna would (she even owns a gym chain called Hard Candy Fitness). Whether it be yoga or pilates, or basics like running or weightlifting. Madonna has done them all. How else do you think she stays in such fantastic shape?! By the time you’re fitting into your skinny jeans or busting through that v-neck tee, you’ll be ready for the Queen’s return.

6)       Part-time job. New Madonna album means new tour. And Madonna don’t come cheap. A perfect time to get that part-time job! Work hard, stash away some extra cash and once Madonna announces her forthcoming tour you’ll be glad you saved up.

7)       Fan blogs/websites/twitter. There are tons of Madonna fan blogs & websites  & twitter accounts devoted to her that can keep you up to date on the latest news. How they get their information I do not know, but some of them have already heard her new music and I’m jealous as all get out.

8)       Join Instagram. If you’re not already following Madonna on Instagram what are you doing with your life? Sign up immediately and familiarize yourself with some of her most popular hashtags like #UnapologeticBitch or #BitchImMadonna. Apparently bitch is a theme on the new album.

9)       Clean. Madonna likes to take selfless in her bathroom while she's cleaning. Take a page out of her book and take some selfies for your new Instagram account while you clean your home. Because once Madonna releases that new album you won’t be doing anything else but dancing and singing to the new songs.

10)       Brush up on the people working with Madonna on her new album. Madonna has a veritable army of people helping her produce this new opus. Get to know them: Avicii, Diplo, Natalie Kills & Martin Kierszenbaum, MoZella, Symbolyc One (often referred to as S1) and Toby Gad, and most recently Blood Diamonds and DJ Dahi.

11)   Read. Madonna encourages reading, so you should get on board. Start with her SEX book. I have "been told" it has some good pictures.

12)   Create some art. Madonna launched her Art for Freedom initiative last year. Isn’t it about time you dusted off those paint brushes and created the next “Madonna and Child”?

13)   Lastly: Pray. There’s nothing like a prayer to get people through tough times. And waiting for new Madonna music can be rough. Repent your sins and pray for Madonna to deliver the goods on this next record.

So there you have it. Plenty of activities to keep yourself busy while awaiting the new album from Madonna. 2015 will be here before you know it, right? Like Madonna says “Time goes by so slowly for those who wait…”

Stefan reaching out to Madonna. Pure joy.
Stefan has been a Madonna fan since he first saw the vhs tape of The Virgin Tour. It was an impressive instant, to say the least.
