So I am rather glad that I ended up coming back from Fire Island yesterday because I was able to get so much accomplished today.
I slept in a bit, to rest up from my lack of quality sleep while at the summer house.
Got up, had breakfast and then made it to the gym for a good, harsh workout. I definitely am pushing myself harder than I ever have at the gym with the new workout regime that I am on. It's not fun, per se, but I do enjoy pushing my body and focusing while I'm at the gym. It's nice to walk out and know I did something good for myself, physically, aesthetically and mentally.
Straight from the gym I went to IKEA. I really didn't have the motivation to go all the way to Redhook by myself to go shopping, but like Julia Cameron says in her Artist's Way follow book, Finding Water, resistance to doing something is fear, and you must break through that fear in order to succeed in life. For some reason I had a huge resistance to going there today. But I forged onward and went. I'm glad I did. Well, my bank account is not, but I am. I am well on my way to getting my apartment in order. My delivery arrives Saturday (who know when that will be) and I will get my two floor lamps, my new media stand (now I just need that new swanky flat screen...) and two chairs (just need the table). I don't know why it felt like I bought so much more and only got a few items. But none the less, they will be here in a few days. Slowly but surely my place is coming together.
I have been wanting to see a movie for the past few weeks and haven't gone, so I threw myself in to the 6:15pm showing of Crazy Stupid Love. Unfortunately, the best part about the movie was Ryan Gosling and his too frequent shirtless scenes. The movie kept trying to be a serious drama with poignant moments and a slapstick comedy. There were two directors. I wondered if they had some production problems throughout filming. I liked the poignant drama moments over the slapstick comedy. The script just didn't feel as polished as it should have been.
And now I'm cooking one of my chicken/veggies one-pot stews in the crock pot so I'll have some leftovers to eat during the week and not have to cook so much. There something so nice about tossing food in the microwave and heating it up in three minutes after you walk in the door, exhausted from working out, as opposed to having to food shop and cook.
Back to work tomorrow. Luckily it's a four-day week.
